Jason Sheppard today issued a statement following the passage of a bill package that funds people’s priorities and pumps more than $1 billion into Michigan’s roads and bridges:The people of Michigan very clearly rejected Proposal 1, so the Legislature acted quickly to find a better solution to the state’s crumbling infrastructure. These bills protect our beloved Pure Michigan campaign while dedicating $700 million of existing revenue and redirecting $135 million of economic development funds. Our new road-funding plan strengthens Michigan’s economy by more efficiently using taxpayers’ hard-earned money and—most importantly—requiring road and bridge project warranties, as well as competitive bidding, for all future infrastructure improvements. When all is said and done, we have listened to the people and found a realistic solution for the Great Lakes State.###State Rep. Jason Sheppard is serving his first term in the Michigan House representing the 56th District, which includes the cities of Milan, Dundee, Summerfield, Whiteford, Bedford, Erie, LaSalle, Ida, Raisinville and a portion of Monroe.
